HOSPICE-one of those words that most people prefer to avoid when a healthcare worker or loved one discusses...however, there are many misconceptions as well as misinformation. HOSPICE is NOT just for Cancer diagnosis.
The GOAL of HOSPICE CARE IS to allow the patient(s) to be comfortable, maintain control of their life, as well as dignity and respect.
Patients and loved ones will be working with a compassionate interdisciplinary team, to include physical, mental, dietary, emotional, holistic, and spiritual support to allow clients with serious and progressive illnesses towards the end of their life.
Hospice assists with difficulty decision making choices, integrating cultural and religious differences and coping strategies as well as bereavement and assistance, after death🙏
Hospice services can include, but not limited to: Doctors, Nursing, Social services, Volunteers, Continuous home care, Dietary, Homemakers, Companionship, Chaplains, CNAs, DME (equipment), Respite, PT/OT/ST, Bereavement , all of which will be assessed on an individual basis.
Some Hospice patients have been on Hospice Care for years, so Hospice wants the BEST quality of life for their clients.
ASK the questions and if you don't know the questions to ask, ask those who may have the answers to provide the HIGHEST level of care.
